Welcome to Manningtree Archive. I am honoured by your presence. In this site you will come across the greats of the cinema, stage, music and literature – from the legendary Marlene Dietrich to Andrea Checchi; Maria Callas to Lynn Fontanne; Giacomo Puccini to Ennio Morricone; Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra to Maxwell Anderson….. This is their place. You will also come across many other things that fancy my interest which could be of curiosity to you, as well.
My only theory for this non-profit site is to represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge and research on the above subjects. The reviews on movies here are in tune with my project to promote my favourite ones from a bygone era. I have limited the reviews to those films that form part of my personal collection of more than 6000 films.
The information and the images have been selected and placed here for long-term preservation on grounds of their enduring cultural, historical value and also to enable us with a passion for the subjects within this site to further that passion and to preserve an accuracy on such movies in Manningtree Archive, before we move away into time’s distance. The illustrations are indicative rather than definitive in the sense of pictorial or chronological sequence. In the final analysis of the synopsis or reviews, all errors, misjudgments and sins of omission are mine alone.
Whilst every care is taken of materials stated in this site, I do not accept any liability for loss or damage which may arise. The illustrations of movies are not necessarily my copyright and I have no authority to give reproduction permission where the copyright is held by another party. No one may reproduce any material before permission of the actual copyright holder is obtained in writing.
As Count Dracula said: “Enter freely and of your own free will….” Let’s journey together and explore the wonders of the past. As we look towards the future, it is always wise to keep an eye on the past.
THE PAST SEEKS ONLY THE REMEMBRANCE. Enjoy Manningtree Archive.
I stay with you

About Jo:
Joseph Sébastine (Jo) was born at Fort Cochin, Kerala, India. Initially employed as a Marketing Executive with a Semi-quasi Government institution in Kerala for almost a decade, his career in business administration took him to various parts of India, the Republic of Yemen, Singapore, Thailand and finally to the United Kingdom, but Cochin was always his home. In fact, his homeland is his family.
Having been a freelance journalist for publications such as The Kerala Times, The New Indian Express, Women’s Era, in recent years Jo turned his mind more on writing books about movies. A great appreciator for what books and movies collecting can bring to life, he has amassed a vast collection of books and movies especially films released during the period 1940s to 80s, which comprise of his personal library, Manningtree Archive.

I love your topic. Being 61 years old, I grew up loving some of the movies you are talking about. Can’t wait to read them. That era of black and white movies, Alfred Hitchcock, the (now considered goofy) science fiction, are still fun to watch and amazing for their emergence in the period they were a part of.
Where have you been Mr. Joseph Sebastine? Please do stay with us. I have been searching for a blog like yours! I agree with ‘Joyful2bee’ above. Some movies are from before my time and some I have heard of and don’t know much about. I am a movie aficionado but nothing like you! Thank you for leaving your Avatar so I could find you. 😀 Fae.
I read your postings backwards;I should have started here! Although I am in the USA,I have a dear friend who Facebooks, e-mails and telephone calls me from Mumbai; his family is proudly from Kerala. Please do drop in again on my site:http://tonettejoycefoodfriendsfamily.wordpress.com/, as I have tried to improve it. I will be looking forward to more of your posts.

Miguel De Cervantes. Awesome. I read his book in secondary school if I recall correctly. It goes way way back. Argentinian guy right? If i got the name right i do remember the essence of his message in that book. About the Gaucho. But before i say more i need to be sure i remember correctly if this was indeed the person. (it has been a v long time after all, I know i look v young but that’s bc i feel young. I am “older” :-))
Thank you for stopping by. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is the Spanish poet/playwright and novelist born in Castile in 1547. He is the author of the first and second volume of “Don Quixote”. Jo x
